Aubameyang joins newly promoted Deportivo La Coruna

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has returned to LaLiga to join newly promoted Deportivo La Coruna on a two-year deal.

Aubameyang is said to have been frozen out of Marseille’s plans going forward and, as such, has joined RC Deportivo for a reported €1.5m.

RC Deportivo finished second in LaLiga 2 in 2025-26 and are set to compete in LaLiga for the first time since 2017-18, having dropped as low as the third division in their absence.

Aubameyang, who spent just four months at Barcelona in 2022, winning the LaLiga title, is playing for his fifth club in six years, having left Marseille for the second time.

Aubameyang had rejoined Marseille ahead of the 2025-26 season, having previously spent the 2023-24 campaign at the Stade Velodrome.

In his second spell with the Ligue 1 side, the striker made 41 appearances in all competitions, netting 14 goals, with 10 of those coming in the French top-flight.

Only Mason Greenwood (16) netted more goals than Aubameyang for Marseille in the competition, while the Englishman (seven) was the only player to assist more times than the Gabon international (five).

RC Deportivo begin their LaLiga campaign at home to Elche on August 17.
