Coventry City have completed a £17m deal to sign Switzerland centre-back Aurele Amenda from Eintracht Frankfurt.
Amenda is the third signing the Sky Blues have made ahead of their long-awaited Premier League return, after making Frank Onyeka’s loan move from Brentford permanent and bringing in Loum Tchaouna from Burnley in a £20m transfer.
Amenda was part of Switzerland’s 26-man squad for the World Cup but did not make an appearance as they reached the quarter-finals, ultimately losing to Argentina in extra time.
He has spent the last two seasons with Eintracht, making 42 appearances in all competitions, with 22 of those being starts.
He helped them finish third in the Bundesliga in 2024-25 and eighth in 2025-26.
Having signed a four-year contract at the Coventry Building Society Arena, the 22-year-old credited head coach Frank Lampard for his role in getting the deal done.
Welcome to the City, Aurèle.

“After the first call with the gaffer, I felt the trust and I liked the project, so I feel this is a really good step for me,” he told the club’s website.
“I cannot wait to meet everyone at the club, especially the fans but, of course, my team-mates.
“I like to defend my goal but I also like to play, I’m really calm with the ball so I can help the team with this.”
Amenda’s Premier League debut could come against reigning champions Arsenal on August 21, as Lampard’s team visit the Emirates Stadium for the opening fixture of 2026-27.
