Mike Flanagan’s Carrie TV Series Adaptation Officially Revealed In First Look Images From Prime Video

Stephen King’s Carrie is getting a makeover.

Carrie is the legendary author King’s debut novel, published in 1974, which helped launch his career and establish him as the King of Horror. The book has since sold more than 350 million copies worldwide and spent 14 weeks on The New York Times bestseller list. The story has been adapted in many forms, with the best-known being the 1976 movie starring Sissy Spacek and directed by Brian De Palma.

Entertainment Weekly has released first-look images of Mike Flanagan’s adaptation of King’s Carrie. The story will be told over eight episodes and expand the well-known horror into a whole new universe. King is on board as an executive producer, and the series is written and executive-produced by showrunner Flanagan, known for The Haunting of Hill House, who will also direct four episodes.

Misfit high‑schooler Carrie White (played by Summer Howell) has spent her life hidden away inside the walls of her home with her fiercely protective mother, Margaret (played by Samantha Sloyan). After her father’s sudden, untimely death thrusts her into the unforgiving ecosystem of public high school, Carrie is forced to navigate a viral bullying scandal that tears through her community, the relentless pressure and casual cruelty of the social‑media age, and the awakening of mysterious telekinetic powers that rise alongside her adolescence.

The cast for the Carrie adaptation includes Sloyan (known for The Pitt) as Margaret White, Siena Agudong (known for Resident Evil) as Sue Snell, Alison Thornton (known for Fire Country) as Chris Hargensen, Joel Oulette (known for My Life with the Walter Boys) as Tommy Ross, Josie Tota (known for The Buccaneers) as Tina, Arthur Conti (known for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice) as Billy, Thalia Dudek (known for The Running Man) as Emaline, Amber Midthunder (known for Prey) as Miss Desjardin, and Matthew Lillard (known for Man of Tomorrow) as Principal Grayle.
