Kofane to the Gunners?

Arsenal could compete with Newcastle United to land Bayer Leverkusen striker Christian Kofane this summer, according to BILD.

The north London giants have had a quiet summer thus far, but they are widely expected to make multiple signings to bolster their attack.

A new centre-forward could be prioritised if Gabriel Jesus were to depart and BILD claim that Arsenal are really interested in Leverkusen’s Kofane.

Newcastle are likewise keen on the teenage sensation, but he won’t come on the cheap, with Leverkusen expected to demand £85 million.

Kofane had a good debut campaign after arriving from Albacete last summer. He managed 16 goal contributions in all competitions for Leverkusen.

The 19-year-old particularly impressed against Arsenal in the Champions League round of 16, where he got the better of William Saliba physically on many occasions.

Kofane was denied a brilliant goal by David Raya‘s world-class save and definitely showed his full potential. It remains to be seen whether Arsenal pay such a huge fee.

Arsenal already have Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz in their ranks as elite number nines, and may not want to make a huge outlay on another.
