Gakpo and Savinho on Spurs list

According to Talksport, Tottenham Hotspur are considering Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo and Manchester City’s Savinho as options to strengthen their wide attacking ranks.

Gakpo’s 2025-26 season – and, indeed, the same goes for the whole of Liverpool – was arguably one to forget. The Netherlands international received enormous amounts of criticism from the fans, practically after every game. In all competitions, he managed just nine goals and six assists across 52 matches for Arne Slot’s side.

Now, however, should he stay put, Gakpo will play under a new head coach – Andoni Iraola, and Liverpool apparently aren’t looking to sell the 27-year-old despite the woes of last season. Any potential suitor would have to pay over the odds for his services, given the prices of wingers on the market this summer, as well as the fact that Gakpo has four years left on his contract.

Still, former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, for example, believes that Gakpo shouldn’t have a place in Iraola’s starting XI, with teenager Rio Ngumoha emerging as one of the brightest talents in the Premier League.

Should Spurs fail to land Gakpo, they’re likely to turn to Manchester City to try for Savinho instead.

The Brazilian’s numbers from 2025-26 are even more modest than those of Gakpo – 36 matches, four goals and three assists in all competitions.
