The Pitt star Noah Wyle makes a touching announcement.
The Pitt is a medical drama that takes place inside a trauma center in Pittsburgh. It follows the doctors, nurses, and other frontline medical professionals as they deal with deadly emergencies, difficult ethical decisions, staffing crises, and the emotional toll of caring for dying patients.
The Pitt’s season 2 finale has finally premiered on HBO Max in the UK. To honor the occasion, Wyle, who portrays Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch in the medical drama, in collaboration with the NHS (National Health Service), posted a heartfelt message. The actor raised awareness about the importance of organ donors and encouraged fans of the show to consider becoming one, so more lives can be saved every single day.
In the video, which was shared on NHS Organ Donation’s official Instagram account, Wyle implored fans of The Pitt to register. The message comes as the UK’s transplant waiting list has reached a record high, with more than 8,300 people (at the time of this article’s publication) currently waiting to receive an organ transplant that could save their lives.
Wyle explained how urgent the matter is, stating that many patients pass away while waiting. He also said that taking just a few minutes out of the day to register on the NHS’ website could ultimately help save multiple lives. The actor urged the public to consider becoming donors and how doing so would likely be one of the best decisions that a citizen could make.
The Pitt has become one of TV’s most critically acclaimed medical dramas. The series has been praised for its grounded and accurate depiction of the healthcare industry. The HBO show also took awards season by storm, collecting more than an impressive number of nominations and wins in 2026.
Production on The Pitt season 3 is currently underway, with Wyle reprising his role as Dr. Robby. He will be joined by returning cast members Sepideh Moafi (Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi), Katherine LaNasa (Nurse Dana Evans), Fiona Dourif (Dr. Cassie McKay), Patrick Ball (Dr. Frank Langdon), Taylor Dearden (Dr. Melissa “Mel” King), Isa Briones (Dr. Trinity Santos), Gerran Howell (Dr. Dennis Whitaker), Shabana Azeez (Victoria Javadi), and Shawn Hatosy (Dr. Jack Abbott).
The NHS is the UK’s publicly funded healthcare system, providing medical care for legal residents. It operates through four separate branches, NHS England, NHS Scotland, NHS Wales, and Health and Social Care in Northern Ireland. UK citizens can become donors by registering on the NHS Organ Donation website.
The Pitt season 2 can be streamed on HBO Max. Season 3 is expected to premiere in January 2027.
