It’s Official, Invincible Returns One Month Today

Invincible really has been one of the most exciting animated series of recent years, with the Prime Video entry recently finishing up its fourth season. Another one is on the way, but that isn’t likely to release until next year, leaving fans with less options if they want to get a similar superhero fix.

There’s always the original and lengthy comic book run, which spans 144 issues released over the course of fifteen years, and if you haven’t done it yet but love the show, it’s well worth reading them. Outside of that, though, there is another release on the way that should tide you over until the show returns.

As first reported by Tabletop Sentinel, Invincible – Superhero Roleplaying has just been given a July 30 release date, marking the completion of a Kickstarter campaign that saw the game receive almost half a million dollars in funding.

The new TTRPG is based on the comic books, and it’s a broad offering that should offer hundreds of hours of replayability, while D&D players should find many of the elements used in playing the game very recognizable.

In confirming the project to fans, Free League Publishing, who produce the game, shared the following insight into what fans can expect.

“The Invincible universe is filled with everything we love about superhero stories – costumes and capes, epic brawls across cityscapes, sidekicks, team-ups, alien invasions, witty banter, alternate dimensions, and much more – though these familiar elements are often subverted in surprising ways. Any trope can exist, and any trope can be turned on its head.

“You might be a wisecracking speedster, a super-genius inventor, a grizzled vigilante, a shape-shifting alien, or a high-flying symbol of hope. Whatever you play and wherever you go, you’ll have to juggle relationships with patrols, face tough challenges and choices, and learn how to use your powers… and learn more about yourself in the process.”

What really stands out here is just how much freedom players will have to play as they wish in a world filled with all sorts of people, of various power levels. It’s also a very approachable TTRPG for those who have dabbled before, with many recognizable features like character sheets, an adventure booklet, and cardboard heroes.

As confirmed earlier, you don’t have too long to wait to play it either, with the game set to launch next month on July 30. If you missed out on backing the Kickstarter, the Starter Set and all of the additional peripherals are available on the Free League Publishing website.
