GTA 6 Surprise Free Download Released For PlayStation 5 Gamers

Earlier this week saw Rockstar surprise fans once again with a major Grand Theft Auto VI update. Although we were all aware that pre-orders would be going live on 25 June, it was the day before that took us all by surprise when Rockstar randomly appeared with information about the two editions of the game, as well as their prices. Not only that, but fans were also treated to 50+ brand-new screenshots of Jason and Lucia, showcasing the incredible amount of customization that players will have access to when Grand Theft Auto VI drops this November.

We now know that Grand Theft Auto VI will launch alongside two editions: Standard and Ultimate, with the latter expected to cost a whopping $100. Whilst many fans have expressed disappointment at this steep price tag, as well as the lack of physical release, there is no denying that if any company can get away with it, it is Rockstar, and we can still expect GTA VI to be the best-selling game of all time.

With pre-orders now live and GTA VI still on track to launch on 19 November, we are finally in the homestretch, and it seems as though companies are gearing up for the biggest game launch of all time.

When it launches later this year, Grand Theft Auto VI will only be playable on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, with a PC port expected to arrive later down the line. However, with Sony holding all marketing rights, PlayStation has already welcomed a makeover and, as such, fans can join in with the hype for GTA VI in style.

Out of nowhere, Sony has released a brand-new Welcome Hub overlay for the PlayStation 5 and, yes, you guessed it, it is dedicated to all things Grand Theft Auto VI. Automatically playing as soon as you boot up the console, the overlay is the first of its kind, which really does show the amount of marketing that Sony has prepared for the game. This is all the more extraordinary seeing as Sony does not even go to this much trouble for some of its biggest first-party releases.

Nevertheless, you can check out the Welcome Hub overlay in action courtesy of Synth Potato over on Twitter/X. If you do not yet have it on your console despite pre-ordering GTA VI, worry not as the update is being rolled out over time and in batches based on region.

However, promotions do not end there, as even the PlayStation App icon is now dedicated to Grand Theft Auto VI on both iOS and Android. We may still be a few months away from its launch, but there is no denying how big Grand Theft Auto VI is truly going to be, and this is just the start of it.
