Vinicius Junior calm around Real Madrid contract talks

Vinicius Junior says he is not focused on Real Madrid for the time being, despite approaching the final year of his contract at the club.

The 25-year-old’s current deal with Los Blancos expires in June 2027, with many clubs already said to be interested in acquiring the forward.

Among LaLiga players, only Kylian Mbappe (42) and Lamine Yamal (24) scored more goals in all competitions than Vinicius (22) in 2025-26

Only Arda Guler (14) and Federico Valverde (13) provided more assists than Vinicius’ 10 among Real Madrid players, though the Brazilian was second overall for goal involvements (32) behind only Mbappe (48).

Vinicius also both attempted (304) and completed (123) more dribbles than any other Madrid player; in LaLiga, only Yamal (completed 225/423) could better his tallies.

After back-to-back seasons with no silverware for Los Blancos, and a hectic 2025-26 campaign which saw a change in head coach and physical altercations between players, Vinicius could be on the move.

Manchester City and Manchester United have both been rumoured to have interest in the winger, but Vinicius’ focus is elsewhere at the moment.

“Right now I’m focused on the national team. I’ll talk about everything related to Real Madrid after the World Cup,” said Vinicius.

“I’m at the most special and important moment of my career. I’m at the physical and technical level I’ve always dreamed of.

“I haven’t suffered any injuries this season. I’ve prepared myself very well to get to this point.”
