Giroud extends Lille contract until 2027

Lille have announced Olivier Giroud has signed a one-year contract extension.

The 39-year-old’s deal was set to expire at the end of this month, but he has opted to stay with the French side for another season.

Giroud scored 11 goals in 44 matches for Lille in 2025-26, netting seven times in Ligue 1 and four times in the Europa League, where Lille lost to eventual winners Aston Villa in the round of 16.

Nevertheless, they managed to beat Lyon to the final Champions League spot in the league, securing their place in UEFA’s premier club competition for next season.

“I’m very happy to continue this adventure here,” Giroud told the club website.

“I feel great at LOSC, completely fulfilled. The welcome from the fans this season in Lille, as in all French stadiums, has truly warmed my heart.

“Above all, I identify with the LOSC project, a club with values I share, a club that works hard and stands out from the others through its methods and results.

“I always want more, and I’m determined to continue and do even better this year.”

Lille and Giroud will be under new management next season, with Davide Ancelotti taking over the reins at the club.

Lille last won Ligue 1 in 2020-21, while their most recent Coupe de France victory came in 2010-11.
