Yohanna chooses Brighton

AIK winger Zadok Yohanna has signed for Brighton & Hove Albion after turning down a proposal from Chelsea.

The Nigerian youngster had a brilliant start to the 2026 season with AIK, scoring five goals and providing four assists from 12 appearances.

His form caught the eye of Chelsea alongside Brighton. Both clubs had offers worth £21m accepted, but the right-sided winger has chosen the latter.

The Blues had plans to recruit him before sending him on loan to Strasbourg, but Yohanna has opted for Premier League experience at Brighton.

The 18-year-old is unlikely to be assured a starting role, but he is prepared to take up the challenge and prove his credentials at the top level in England.

Chelsea are expected to focus on landing experienced players this summer, but they are still on the lookout for young talent with huge potential, too.

Incoming manager Xabi Alonso will have a big say on first-team signings. He has already visited the club’s training ground on many occasions.
