Star Wars Zero Company – Release Date, Preorders, Editions, Gameplay, & Story Details

The upcoming game called Star Wars Zero Company, which seeks to expand the Star Wars universe with more gameplay options, has just received more information, including a new gameplay trailer, story details, and its anticipated release date. The announcement of Star Wars Zero Company happened in April 2025, and a few days after that, it received its first trailer and formal reveal as part of the Star Wars Celebration event in Japan.

Unlike most action-based games set in the franchise, Zero Company is a tactical turn-based adventure, similar to titles like XCOM, for example. There are high hopes for Star Wars Zero Company to make up for some of the lost potential in Star Wars Outlaws, released in 2024, even if the open-world action-adventure game centered around Kay Vess was well-received by critics – but not so much by players. Now, we know that it won’t take too much longer to see what the new game will have to offer once it drops.

During the SGF 2026 Opening Night Live presentation, publisher Electronic Arts revealed new details about the game, including its release date. While there had been some rumors and leaks, it has now been confirmed that Star Wars Zero Company will be released globally on August 27. The single-player turn-based tactics game will be made available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, as well as PC.

Given the release date’s proximity and its center stage at Summer Game Fest 2026, it seems like developer Bit Reactor is quite advanced in terms of development, so it’s fairly unlikely that the game will be pushed back in any way following this announcement. In fact, players who are interested in it can already pre-order Star Wars Zero Company for their preferred platforms.

As was previously mentioned, Star Wars Zero Company is a single-player turn-based tactics game. The title features heavy strategic gameplay, which is said to feel “fresh for the franchise,” according to Lucasfilm Games VP and GM Douglas Reilly, in a press release. The game features authored and player-created characters to use on the battlefield, and you’ll be able to unlock new abilities and train your characters to improve not only their skills but also their stats.

According to the official information, the game’s “ever-changing” map features over 150 planets to explore, and players’ choices during the campaign will change how the journey itself unfolds. Players will be able to recruit and create characters from eight different iconic Star Wars species: Devaronian, Human, Neimoidian, Ovissian, Togruta, Twi’lek, Weequay and Zabrak. On top of that, Star Wars Zero Company features a big customization hub, allowing you to not only tweak talents but also each Operator’s appearance – as was hinted by the pre-order and Deluxe Edition bonuses.

When it comes to the story you’ll be following, EA hasn’t revealed too much so as to avoid spoilers. However, it’s known that the game will take place during the Clone Wars in the Star Wars timeline, and that players will control a former Galactic Republic officer called Hawks. He is the current leader of Zero Company, an outfit of professionals for hire featuring characters from across the galaxy, including a Clone Trooper, a Mandalorian, a Jedi Padawan, and many more.

The main goal of the game will be hunting and stopping Kundri Fathom, the leader of the Separatist-aligned cult known as the Infinite Coil. The title promises to explore the Clone Wars from an unseen angle, highlighting unique character perspectives during the conflict. For fans of the franchise and single-player turn-based tactics games, the upcoming Star Wars Zero Company will be an absolute delight, and it should not only be fun but also informative.
