Manchester United agree €45m deal for Ederson

Manchester United have reached a deal with Atalanta to sign midfielder Ederson for €45million (£38.8m), according to multiple reports.

It was reported last week that United had agreed personal terms with the Brazilian in a move to strengthen their midfield.

And Ederson will now have a medical with United after they came to terms with the Serie A club, with Ederson set to join on a four-year deal with an option for an additional 12 months.

He will make the move to Michael Carrick’s side for an initial fee of €40.5m (£35m) plus €4.5m (£4m) in potential add-ons, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic.

Ederson, who is set to become the first signing since Carrick as confirmed as United’s full-time manager, will fill the void left by compatriot Casemiro, whose four-season spell at Old Trafford came to an end last month.

The 26-year-old has made 180 appearances for Atalanta since joining from Salernitana in 2022 and helped them to Europa League glory in 2024. He has scored 16 goals and provided five assists in his time with Atalanta.

Ederson has won three caps for Brazil, however, he was not included in their squad for the 2026 World Cup.

He will officially complete his move to United in July and could make his first unofficial appearance for the Red Devils when they play their first pre-season game against Wrexham on July 18.
