The incident took place during the seventh over of RCB’s chase of 156. Virat was standing at the non-striker’s end when Gujarat Titans batter Sai appeared to say something to him during the break between deliveries. Initially, Kohli seemed uninterested in responding and continued to focus on the chase. However, as the conversation continued, the former RCB captain walked towards Sudharsan and the two shared a brief but animated exchange in the middle of the ground.

Kohli responds with match-winning knock

If Gujarat Titans were hoping to unsettle Kohli, the veteran batter answered in the best possible fashion. Kohli produced one of his finest innings in an IPL final, remaining unbeaten on 75 from just 42 deliveries and guiding RCB comfortably towards the target. The knock included nine fours and three sixes, while his half-century came in only 25 balls, the fastest IPL fifty of his career. It also became his highest score in an IPL playoff match and earned him the Player of the Match award.

Following the victory, Kohli spoke about RCB’s mindset throughout the tournament and emphasised the importance of maintaining respect for opponents regardless of the situation. The former captain stated that RCB focused on their own cricket rather than worrying about which opposition stood in front of them. He also stressed that the team preferred to remain professional and respectful towards other franchises while allowing their performances to do the talking on the field.
