Stepping onto Irish soil for their maiden Test appearance in the country completed an incredible global map of longevity. Prior to this historic encounter in Belfast, Williamson and Latham had represented New Zealand in 11 other prominent cricketing territories:

While the pre-match headlines belonged to the record-breaking veterans, the actual play on Day 1 delivered high drama. Ireland’s bowling spearhead, Mark Adair, vindicated his captain’s decision to bowl by striking almost instantly.
