Cucurella makes Spain WC squad

Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella has been named in Spain’s 26-man World Cup squad this summer.

The 27-year-old ace has been a consistent performer for his country over the last few years from the left-back department.

His recent Premier League season was a difficult one with the Blues, but that has not hampered his international selection.

Cucurella has made the cut for the World Cup where Spain are widely regarded as one of the favourites to lift the title.

Meanwhile, there has been some speculation over Cucurella’s future at Chelsea. Manchester City are keen on signing him.

The Cityzens have just appointed Enzo Maresca as their new manager and he has his sights on a reunion with his former Chelsea player.

However, that appears unlikely to happen with incoming Blues manager Xabi Alonso determined to keep hold of his compatriot.

Similarly, the Blues are adamant that Joao Pedro won’t head for the exit door despite the transfer interest from Barcelona.
