If you are a PC gamer, then you should also be a Steam user, with the Valve storefront not only giving you access to some of the biggest releases and a large selection of hidden gem indies, but it also regularly hosts events, which is the one-stop-shop to get your hands on titles at a heavy discount, or even completely free.
This month, Steam is hosting its Ocean Fest which runs until 25 May, meaning you have just 24 hours to get your hands on the epic deals currently available on the PC storefront. From the adorable indie, cozy farming adventure game Collector’s Cove to the newly released Darwin’s Paradox, a cinematic adventure from publisher KONAMI, the Ocean Fest Steam event has something for everyone, and for the next 24 hours, you can check out a whopping 24 games for absolutely free.
That is because all the games featured in the events currently boast a free-to-play demo, allowing you to try-before-you-buy, and even try out some upcoming games that fall into the ocean-like genre.
Although we will not discuss the 24 games in detail here, I have picked a few interesting titles, but do not worry, Skull and Bones is not one of them, even though a demo is currently available for the controversial Ubisoft release.
Some positively rated games that have caught my eye are The Last Caretaker, a survival game which will see players explore a drowned earth, restore lost systems, and raise the last human seeds. In this first-person survival-crafting game, you will need to build, scavenge, and defend in order to launch humanity back to the stars. If you like what you see in the demo, The Last Caretaker is currently available to purchase at 20% off.
There is also Spilled!, a short and relaxing game which will task you with cleaning up the ocean. As you recycle, you will earn coins that will help you upgrade your boat, and make your job a whole lot easier. As you clean up spills and all other manner of waste, you will truly feel as though you are making a difference in this adorable, underrated gem.
If you are someone who fears what lurks in the depths of the ocean, you will probably want to skip out on UMIGARI, a first-person harpoon fishing game set in the waters off the coast of Japan. As you hunt and sell your catch, you will be able to slowly upgrade your gear, but you soon realize that the more fish you catch, the stranger they become, and it does not help that you are all alone out there…
All of these games and many more are available to try out and then purchase at a heavily discounted price courtesy of Steam’s Ocean Fest event. So, if you want to brave the ocean depths, be sure to hurry as this event ends in just 24 hours.
