I Tried Walmart’s bettergoods Brand Frozen Appetizers

Gourmet or gimmick? Check out my bettergoods brand review on five of the latest frozen appetizers from Walmart

Frozen snacks feel surprisingly upscale with these bettergoods Walmart finds!

Frozen appetizers have seriously leveled up from the days of basic mozzarella sticks and pizza rolls. I’d been noticing Walmart’s newer bettergoods line popping up more and more in the freezer aisle, and the options really stood out. With trendier flavors and “hosting night” vibes, I was genuinely curious to give them a try.

What surprised me the most was the price. ALL of the bettergoods items I tried were under $6, and were a mix of fun, slightly elevated options, like crispy arancini, flaky croissant knots, mini quiche, and sweet-and-savory figs in a blanket.

These frozen bites are clearly designed for quick snacks, and low-effort appetizers. They can turn into an affordable hosting hack too!

What is bettergoods Walmart?

The bettergoods brand launched as Walmart’s more modern private label line with more elevated grocery items that kept the affordable pricing. The collection includes everything from frozen foods and pantry staples to beverages and home products. I chose five frozen appetizers for my taste test – and four of these are definitely keepers.

Here are the ones worth buying (and which one to skip):

bettergoods figs in a blanket

Price: $5.97 for 6.12oz

Description: This is a twist on pigs in a blanket and combines sweet fig flavor with savory ingredients wrapped in pastry for a more gourmet-inspired frozen snack. Designed with entertaining in mind, they offer a sweet-and-salty flavor profile.

My Thoughts: So, to be honest, this was a miss for us. I didn’t enjoy the crust. It was flat and tasteless and the cheese didn’t taste great. It also didn’t look appealing. I would not buy this again.

Taste Rating: 3/10

bettergoods mini quiche in the air fryer

Price: $5.97 for 9oz

Description: These bite-sized mini quiches bring a bakery-style brunch experience. Featuring flaky pastry shells filled with rich, creamy egg custard and savory flavor combinations, they make an easy appetizer, breakfast addition, or easy entertaining option. Avocado & black bean and sweet potato bacon are the two flavors.

My thoughts: These tasted surprisingly elevated, and the crust is delclious. I prepped them in the air fryer and they were honestly great tasting and flavorful. The tops got slightly browned and yummy. I would definitely buy these again. If you are hosting a brunch, buy a few of these to bake as a great hosting hack!

holding frozen yet cooked bettergoods appetizer

Price: $5.97 for 7.5oz

Description: Blending Italian-inspired arancini with classic Southern pimento cheese flavor, these crispy bites feature creamy cheese-filled risotto coated in a crunchy exterior.

My Thoughts: These have a strong pimento taste. smoky but not spicy. I love the exterior crumb texture. These are good, but maybe not my first choice. Would most likely not buy again.

Taste Rating: 8/10

4. bettergoods Cacio E Pepe Arancini

bettergoods arancini after cooking

Price: $5.97 for 7.5oz

Description: Inspired by the classic Italian pasta dish, these crispy risotto balls combine creamy rice, bold black pepper, and cheesy cacio e pepe flavor in a crunchy golden coating.

My Thoughts: I loved the Parmesan and rice taste. I personally enjoyed the flavor more than the pimento ones. Next time I would make these in the air fryer to make the outside extra crispy. Yes, I would buy these again!

Taste Rating: 8/10

bettergoods pesto knots

Price: $4.97 for 12oz

Description: These buttery croissant knots combine flaky pastry layers with savory garlic filling and basil pesto flavor for a bakery-inspired frozen side or appetizer.

My Thoughts: This was the best product out of them all! These were so delclious, fluffy, and flaky. The pesto flavor is delclious. It would be a perfect addition for spaghetti night. I am buying these again for sure.
