Manchester United have been handed a boost in signing Southampton midfielder Shea Charles for a bargain price this summer, according to The Mirror.
The Red Devils are planning to recruit three midfielders during the upcoming transfer window. A marquee midfielder could be signed for a huge outlay of around 80 million pounds.
They are also prepared to spend 50 million pounds on a second signing. The club have not ruled out a third purchase for a modest fee to provide depth in the squad ahead of next season.
The Mirror now claim that United are hot on the trail of Charles, who has had a fine season with Southampton in the Championship. The Saints recently made the play-off final, but were expelled after the Spygate controversy involving Middlesbrough.
As a result, they could lose several key players in the next transfer window. Charles, 22, is valued at just over 20 million pounds, and United could be prepared to meet the price to land his services.
