Wasim Akram explains how Bangladesh outclass Pakistan in historic Test series triumph

Bangladesh scripted another memorable chapter in their Test cricket journey by completing a historic series sweep over Pakistan, and former Pakistan pace great Wasim Akram believes the hosts deserved every bit of success. The legendary left-arm pacer expressed disappointment over Pakistan’s performances across the series but admitted that Bangladesh looked like the better side in all departments and showcased how much they have evolved in red-ball cricket in recent years.

The series ended in dominant fashion for Bangladesh as they wrapped up victory on the final morning by taking Pakistan’s remaining three wickets. It marked Bangladesh’s first-ever Test series win over Pakistan at home and added another milestone after their earlier away series triumph in Rawalpindi in 2024.

Wasim Akram applauds Bangladesh’s complete team performance

Speaking after the series, Akram praised Bangladesh for producing disciplined cricket throughout the contest. He admitted Pakistan failed to match the intensity and consistency shown by the hosts and credited Bangladesh for playing fearless yet controlled cricket under pressure.

The former Pakistan captain pointed out that Bangladesh were sharper with both bat and ball and looked tactically more prepared in crunch moments. Their bowlers maintained pressure for long spells, while the batting unit delivered crucial partnerships whenever the team needed stability.

“Really disappointed to see Pakistan beaten for the second time by Bangladesh, but full praise and marks to the winners as they played complete cricket,” Akram said as quoted by Geosupertv.

Akram reveals key reason behind Bangladesh’s dominance

Akram highlighted a major transformation in Bangladesh’s approach towards preparing Test surfaces. Traditionally known for producing slow and spin-friendly tracks, Bangladesh have now started preparing more balanced pitches that also assist pace bowlers. According to Akram, this shift has helped Bangladesh develop a stronger fast-bowling culture, which played a huge role in dismantling Pakistan’s batting line-up during the series.

“Bangladesh used to have low, slow and big turners but now they preparing great Test pitches, helping their fast-rising pace bowlers who outpaced Pakistan,” Akram explained.

The legendary pacer added that Bangladesh now possess the quality and confidence required to challenge top teams consistently in the longest format.

“Bangladesh are now ready to compete against the best in this format,” the former Pakistan pacer added.

Nahid Rana earns special praise

One of the standout performers of the series was young Bangladesh pacer Nahid Rana, whose pace and aggression troubled Pakistan’s batters throughout the contest. Akram was particularly impressed with the youngster’s temperament and ability to extract movement and bounce on helpful surfaces. He described Rana as a “treat to watch” and backed him to become an important figure in Bangladesh’s pace attack in the coming years.

“And what a talent Nahid Rana is treat to watch. Congrats Bangladesh,” Akram added further.
