Genshin Impact Nintendo Switch Release Date Has Gamers Seriously Hyped

A new leak hinting at a potential release date for Genshin Impact on Nintendo Switch has surfaced, nearly six years after the popular action RPG was announced for the platform. HoYoverse’s hit gacha game was released back in 2020 for PlayStation 4, PC, and mobile devices, with the promise that it would soon arrive for Nintendo consoles. The company released its newest generation of consoles in 2025, and Genshin Impact never arrived on Nintendo Switch.

Even though the majority of the community has already put it in their minds that it won’t be available on Switch, a new leak has been hinting at that very possibility, even if enormously delayed. In a post shared by Animegamingnerd on Reddit, there is information from the leaker known as Lunar Kuroo, who mentioned that, within the internal builds for the game, there is a new option to bind the HoYoverse and Nintendo accounts, which could be hinting at a potential Genshin Impact release on Nintendo Switch.

In the post’s comment section, users highlight how much time has passed since the announcement. User Nisha_the_lawbringer mentions that the port for the platform was announced over five years ago and that HoYoverse has gone completely silent on the matter since then, “so this is pretty huge.” They are right: Genshin Impact’s release on Nintendo Switch has long been awaited, even after hope was lost. The leak isn’t confirmation, nor should it be treated like this.

Nevertheless, players are ecstatic about the possibility, as seen in many other replies to the Reddit post. One thing that is worth noting is that the leak never really specifies Nintendo Switch as a platform, but a connection between the Nintendo Switch and HoYoverse accounts. As is highlighted by user Ebo87 on Reddit, this could represent the release of Genshin Impact on Nintendo Switch 2 rather than the original platform.

One of the things the user brings up is that they imagine HoYoverse “never managed to get the game running well enough on the OG Switch, which is why it never came out on there.” This could also explain why HoYoverse would prefer a release on the newest hardware system, which is a lot more potent and capable of running heavy games, like Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade.

How any of this will be implemented and if the game will arrive for the original Nintendo Switch remains a mystery. Even so, this is the biggest leak regarding the matter that we’ve seen in years. It’s worth taking leaks with a grain of salt, but it does seem like there is hope for Genshin Impact on Nintendo Switch – or at least Nintendo Switch 2 – after all.
