Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund has officially joined Napoli after the Serie A outfit qualified for the Champions League next season.

The Dane signed for the Italian giants on a season-long loan from the Red Devils last summer with an obligation to buy for £38 million if they qualify for the Champions League.

That has now been officially achieved. Hojlund has now bid farewell to the Red Devils and will continue his chapter in Naples on a permanent basis for the next few seasons.

He said: “I’m now officially a Napoli player and I’m saying goodbye to Manchester United. The way you fans supported me, made me feel like home and let me find my confidence again is something I’m so grateful for.”

Hojlund fell out of favour at the start of the campaign with Benjamin Sesko‘s arrival, and the right decision was made to move on from the Mancunian heavyweights.

His departure means that United will have a financial boost for the next transfer window. Joshua Zirkzee is also likely to depart and a top-class striker could be recruited.
