According to The Athletic, Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing Mateus Fernandes from West Ham this summer.

Still only 21, Fernandes is widely regarded as a player well above playing for clubs that battle against relegation, which is what he experienced last season at Southampton and what he’s going through with Hammers right now. Regardless of West Ham’s status beyond this summer, the club is reportedly willing to sell, but they expect to make a profit on the player they paid £40million for only last year.

Meanwhile, The Times report that Arsenal are monitoring the situation closely as well, with manager Mikel Arteta intent of reorganizing his midfield ranks. As things stand, it seems the Gunners and the Ligue 1 champions will be battling for more than the Champions League trophy in the coming months.

In 2025-26, Fernandes has made 40 appearances for West Ham, scoring five goals and contributing four assists. He has also played his first game as a Portugal international, appearing for the final five minutes of their friendly victory over the USA in early April.
