May 14th: Thursday’s MLS Accumulator – 4/1 Special, Betting Tips & Analysis

With a stacked MLS schedule in the early hours of Thursday, a string of American giants will steal centre stage.

As Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami travel to Cincinnati for what could be an action-packed affair, we have 14 MLS showdowns pencilled in from both the Eastern and Western Conference respectively.

For those of you looking to stick on a midweek flutter, we have taken an in-depth look at some of Thursday’s most attractive MLS betting markets.

Thursday, May 14th

BST 00:30 DC United vs Chicago Fire

Suffering a late collapse away at Nashville over the weekend as they eventually had to settle for a thrilling 2-2 stalemate, DC United will be seeking an immediate response here.

Nevertheless, despite their frustrating trip to Tennessee on Sunday, the Eagles have largely impressed over the past few weeks.

Signing off April with a rollercoaster 3-2 victory at home against Orlando, Rene Weiler’s side have registered seven points from their previous three MLS appearances and they have come skyrocketing up the Eastern Conference standings.

With their sights firmly fixed on punching a play-off ticket in 2026, the former Servette boss should find the mood in his camp at a continued high.

Getting May underway with an eye-catching display as they clinched a deserved 2-0 win away at New York City, DC United are also unbeaten in all of their last five consecutive MLS showdowns.

Finding a real clinical edge in the final third, it should also be highlighted that Thursday’s hosts have notched 11 goals in just their previous four outings.

While Chicago might have stormed their way to a sensational 5-0 romp at home against Sporting KC last month, the Fire have come crashing back down to earth in a worrying fashion.

Putting in another concerning performance over the weekend as they eventually slumped to a 3-1 defeat against the New York Red Bulls, Thursday’s guests have lost each of their previous three consecutive appearances across all formats by an aggregate score of 8-4.

Likewise, watching their US Open Cup adventure come to a thumping end on April 30th as they fell to a 2-1 loss at the hands of St. Louis, Chicago have shown some real defensive struggles over the past fortnight.

Including a frantic 3-2 defeat against Cincinnati earlier in the month, Chicago should be bracing themselves for a tricky test when they travel to Washington in midweek.

It’s also worth highlighted, the Eastern Conference strugglers also slumped to a 2-1 loss when they welcomed DC United to Soldier Field for an MLS showdown back on March 15th.

Betting Tip: Louis Munteanu Over 0.5 shots on target @ 3/5

01:30 Sporting Kansas City vs LA Galaxy

Making an immediate return to winning ways last time out as they clinched an eye-catching 2-1 victory away at Atlanta, LA Galaxy will be dreaming of a repeat performance here.

Missing out on a play-off ticket last season and facing a public backlash, Greg Vanney’s side have plenty of expectations on their shoulders this time around.

Signing off April with another 2-1 win at home against Real Salt Lake, the MLS giants have registered seven points from their previous three appearances and they will certainly feel that they have been handed a golden opportunity in midweek.

Finding a route into the play-off places, it’s also worth noting that LA Galaxy have suffered just a sole domestic defeat on their travels since a thumping 4-1 loss at the hands of Colorado back on March 8th.

Looking to secure back-to-back MLS victories for the first time since way back in February, Vanney’s play-off chasers are rightfully installed as a standout contender in midweek.

Embarking on what has been a woeful start to the 2026 campaign, Sporting Kansas City have continued to show a string of glaring issues.

Last seen putting in a nightmare on their travels as they slumped to a 6-0 drumming at the hands of Portland, Raphael Wicky’s side sit rock-bottom of the Western Conference standings.

In fact, the Wizards have remarkably put just five points on the board from any of their first 11 MLS appearances and the former BSC Young Boys boss has a huge amount of pressure on his shoulders.

Signing off April with a thumping 5-0 loss against Chicago, it is no surprise that Sporting KC have gained an unwanted reputation for their infamous defensive issues.

It should be highlighted, Thursday’s hosts have astonishingly shipping 32 MLS goals since opening up the new campaign and have conceded 11 more strikes than any other team in the Western Conference.

Likewise on what has become a record-breaking rut, Thursday’s hosts have also conceded eight goals in their last three straight MLS showdowns in front of their own supporters.

Betting Tip: LA Galaxy win @ 19/20

02:30 Seattle Sounders vs San Jose Earthquakes

While Seattle might have snatched a 1-1 stalemate at home against San Diego over the weekend, the Sounders will know that they missed out on a potential opportunity.

Nevertheless, despite getting May underway with another 1-1 draw away at Sporting KC, Brian Schmetzer’s side are widely regarded as a standout contender to claim another play-off ticket in the Western Conference this season.

Extending on their Champions Cup adventure last month as they completed a sensational second-leg turnaround and secured a frantic 3-2 aggregate win against Mexican giants Tigres, Seattle have suffered just a single defeat from any of their previous 12 consecutive appearances across all competitions – a purple patch that stems all the way back to a 2-1 loss against Real Salt Lake on March 1st.

Laying down a major marker on April 19th as they claimed a thumping 4-1 romp against St. Louis, Thursday’s hosts will be desperately searching for a repeat performance at Lumen Field in midweek.

However, it is worth noting, Thursday’s hosts have failed to record a single clean sheet from their last five straight matchups in front of their own supporters.

Although San Jose might have been forced to settle for their own back-to-back 1-1 draws since opening May, the Earthquakes have firmly cemented their spot as one of the MLS’ ultimate surprise packages.

Embarking on what has been a remarkable start to proceedings, the Goonies have rightfully received a string of praise and they find themselves leading the chase at the top of the Western Conference standings.

Travelling to Lumen Field in midweek holding a three-point buffer over the chasing pack, Bruce Arena’s high-flying squad will be looking to lay down another heavyweight marker here.

Extending on their US Open Cup charge on April 29th thanks to a dramatic 4-2 victory at home against Minnesota, the California-based outfit have registered 29 points from their 12 MLS appearances since opening up the 2026 campaign.

Likewise, despite being pencilled in as an underdog contender here, San Jose are unbeaten in all of their first six domestic showdowns away from PayPal Park (five wins, one draw).
