Aston Villa to bid for Ibrahim Mbaye

Mbaye wanted by Villa

Aston Villa are reportedly preparing a summer move for highly-rated Paris Saint-Germain youngster Ibrahim Mbaye as Unai Emery continues to target emerging talent capable of strengthening the club for both domestic and European competition. The 18-year-old forward has enjoyed an impressive breakthrough season in France and is now attracting attention from several Premier League sides ahead of the transfer window.

Mbaye is regarded as one of the brightest young attacking prospects in the PSG system and has steadily earned more senior opportunities throughout the 2025-26 campaign. Despite fierce competition for places in Paris, the teenager has managed to make a strong impression whenever called upon, showing flashes of the pace, confidence and technical ability that have made him so highly rated inside the club.

Across all competitions this season, Mbaye has scored eight goals and contributed five assists in 28 appearances for PSG’s senior side and youth teams combined. He has been especially effective in cup competitions and substitute appearances, often changing the tempo of games with his direct running and willingness to attack defenders one-on-one. His performances in the UEFA Youth League also caught attention, where he added four goals during PSG’s run in the competition.

Villa believe Mbaye fits perfectly into the profile of player Emery wants to develop. The Aston Villa manager has consistently shown a willingness to trust young attacking players, particularly those capable of playing across multiple forward positions. Mbaye can operate as a winger on either side or through the centre, giving Villa tactical flexibility in the final third.

One of the key reasons Villa are interested is Mbaye’s explosiveness. Scouts have reportedly been impressed by his acceleration, close control in tight spaces and ability to carry the ball over long distances. He also presses aggressively from the front, something Emery places huge importance on within his system.

Another major factor behind Villa’s interest is the club’s long-term planning. With the demands of Premier League football and European competition increasing each season, Villa are looking to add younger depth capable of developing into future first-team stars. Mbaye is viewed internally as a player with elite-level potential if he continues progressing at his current rate.

PSG are believed to value Mbaye highly and would be reluctant to lose one of the standout talents from their academy structure. However, Aston Villa hope the promise of more consistent first-team opportunities could persuade the teenager to consider a move to England.

The Europa League finalists are expected to spend heavily in the summer tranasfer window and Mbaye is top of Unai Emery‘s wish list.
