Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson

Chelsea are reportedly prepared to give Nicolas Jackson another opportunity to establish himself as the club’s leading striker next season following his loan spell with Bayern Munich. The Senegal international endured a mixed period before his temporary switch to Germany, but there remains strong belief within Stamford Bridge that the forward still possesses the qualities needed to succeed in the Premier League.

Jackson initially arrived at Chelsea with high expectations after impressing in La Liga with Villarreal. While flashes of his pace, movement and finishing ability were evident during his first spell in London, inconsistency in front of goal and the pressure of leading the line for a rebuilding side made life difficult for the 24-year-old attacker. His move to Bayern Munich allowed him to gain valuable experience in a more settled environment, competing for major honours and working alongside elite attacking players.

Chelsea’s coaching staff have reportedly been impressed with the maturity he has shown during his time in the Bundesliga, believing the experience has helped improve his composure and decision-making in the final third.Despite continued links with several high-profile strikers in the transfer market, Chelsea are said to be reluctant to completely close the door on Jackson’s long-term future at the club. Senior figures behind the scenes feel the striker still has considerable potential and could yet develop into an important player under the current project. There is also recognition that continuity and patience may be needed as Chelsea look to build a younger squad capable of challenging consistently at the top level once again. Jackson could now be handed the chance to compete for a starting role when pre-season preparations begin later this summer.
