Bayern Munich 3-3 Heidenheim: 100th-minute own goal rescues draw for Bundesliga champions

A 100th-minute own goal from Diant Ramaj saw Bayern Munich snatch a 3-3 draw against bottom side Heidenheim at Allianz Arena.

Heidenheim looked set for victory courtesy of a brace from Budu Zivzivadze, but Michael Olise’s late curling effort crashed against the woodwork before being deflected in by the visitors’ goalkeeper to deny them.

Zivzivadze put Heidenheim ahead in the 22nd minute, timing his run to perfection to get on the end of a looping cross from Marnon Busch at the back post, with Jonas Urbig unable to push the shot away from goal.

Busch was involved again nine minutes later, playing Eren Dinkci through on goal. The latter managed to take the pass in his stride and round the Bayern goalkeeper before poking into an empty net.

Leon Goretzka halved the deficit shortly before the break, finding the top-left corner with a free-kick. And he then restored parity just before the hour mark with a simple finish from Olise’s corner.

Zivzivadze thought he secured all three points for the visitors after he chopped inside Olise and curled into the far corner in the 76th minute.

But there was one last moment of drama as Olise’s hopeful effort eventually rebounded into the back of the net, denying the visitors a much-needed win in their relegation fight.

Data Debrief: Zivzivadze makes Heidenheim history

There was very little to separate the two sides in the expected goals (xG) battle, with Bayern producing 2.21 from 23 shots to Heidenheim’s 2.13 from 12 attempts, with the visitors now three points off the relegation play-off spot.

Zivzivadze has now scored in four consecutive Bundesliga matches for the first time, setting a new club record for a Heidenheim player, surpassing Dinkci’s previous record of scoring in three straight games in September 2023.

There was another positive for Bayern after Arijon Ibrahimovic, who is on loan to Heidenheim from the Bavarian club, assisted Zivzivadze’s second goal. He also created the joint-most chances in the match (three).
