Copenhagen Test Canceled After One Season

The Copenhagen Test has been canceled after just one season.

According to a report from Variety, Peacock’s espionage thriller series, which was led by Marvel star Simu Liu, is getting the axe less than four months after dropping all eight episodes of its premiere season in late December.

And while The Copenhagen Test was received well by critics, maintaining a firm 71% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it couldn’t seem to keep the attention of audiences. Per Nielsen data listed in Variety‘s report, the show racked up 373 million minutes viewed for the week of December 29 to January 4, enough to earn it the number 10 spot on the Nielsen top 10 streaming originals chart, but failed to reach the top 10 in any of the subsequent weeks.

The series, which, along with Liu, starred Melissa Barrera, Sinclair Daniel, Brian D’Arcy James, Mark O’Brien, and Kathleen Chalfant, followed Alexander Hale [Liu], a “first-generation Chinese-American intelligence analyst who realizes his brain has been hacked, giving the perpetrators access to everything he sees and hears.” When he finds himself caught between his “shadowy agency” and the hackers in question, he is forced to “maintain a performance 24/7” to find out who is responsible and prove where his allegiance lies.

Created by Thomas Brandon, who also served as writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner, The Copenhagen Test also saw star Liu as one of the show’s executive producers. Jennifer Yale also served as a writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner, with James Wan, Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett executive producing via Atomic Monster, along with Mark Winemaker and Jet Wilkinson. Wilkinson directed the series’ first two episodes, while Nima Nourizadeh and Kevin Tancharoen directed the rest.
