Massimiliano Allegri conceded the AC Milan fans were right to boo their team, following Saturday’s defeat by Udinese.

The Rossoneri were beaten 3-0 at San Siro as they lost further ground in the Serie A title race, while their Champions League qualifying hopes were also dented.

Milan lost a Serie A home game by at least a three-goal margin without scoring for the first time since February 2021 (3-0 against Inter).

It was also the first time a team managed by Allegri were beaten by three goals without scoring in the Italian top flight.

The Rossoneri hit the target just three times from 20 attempts against Udinese, and Allegri could not defend his side from jeers by the home fans.

“It is part of football,” he told DAZN. “When you win, you are good; when you lose, you are not. It was right that they booed us today.

“This is a difficult moment for the team. We have lost three of our last four, and failed to score in four games during the second half of the season.

“If you are in the top four, going four games without scoring is simply not good enough.

“On the second goal, we were three against one. We need to return to being organised and clear-headed, because we still have every possibility of making the Champions League.”

Milan travel to Verona in their next league game, before a huge top-four clash on April 26 against Juventus, who defeated Atalanta on Saturday.
