There are certain things that gamers want: news on Fallout 5, a gameplay trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, and more than a view of mountains when it comes to The Elder Scrolls VI, to name but a few. However, with Bethesda regretting the announcement of the next The Elder Scrolls installment so soon, it seems as though this stunning mountain range is the only thing we will be getting for the next few years. As a result, fans highly anticipating the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI are finally starting to realize that they may not have drawn the short stick after all.
This comes after one user took to r/GTA6 to share an eye-opening revelation. Alongside a screenshot of the first and only teaser trailer for The Elder Scrolls VI which was shared back in 2018, they wrote, “We can be grateful.” This refers to the screenshot caption which reads, “If you ever feel stupid because GTA 6 is taking so long, just remember that Bethesda uploaded a teaser for Elder Scrolls almost eight years ago and then never talked about it again.”
In recent months, GTA VI fans have been eager to see the third trailer for the highly anticipated Rockstar title. At the time of writing, there have been two official trailers for the next Grand Theft Auto installment: one in December 2023 and the second in May 2025, meaning that it has almost been a year since we heard anything. With some fans concerned over another potential delay, there is always a bright side, and this time it is the realization that GTA VI fans are not suffering as much as those waiting for The Elder Scrolls VI.
As a result, some took to the comments of the original Reddit post to share their thoughts. “We know A LOT about GTA 6,” one shared. “The only thing we know about TES6 is that it exists, and it’ll have more trees than Skyrim.” For user ButtersTheChill, they are not feeling hopeful, sharing, “Not only that, Todd almost seems annoyed when people ask about it, but like, why even put out a teaser if you’re not ready? And by the time it even comes out, I’m sure it’s likely going to be as mediocre as Starfield was, if not worse. I’d love to see Rockstar do a high fantasy game just for the f**k of it to show them how it’s done, but f**k, that would take like another decade at this point.”
The answer to this question is anybody’s guess as, as mentioned, Bethesda head Todd Howard is reluctant to even talk about The Elder Scrolls VI at this stage, proving that the game was announced way too soon. Not only that, but with The Elder Scrolls franchise being so loved, it is safe to say that its developers have a lot on their shoulders to make it stand out amongst the greats, such as the most recent entry, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which launched way back in 2011. If I had to guess, we will not see The Elder Scrolls VI until at least 2030 at the minimum.
