The Drama is in theaters now, and has been the subject of a lot of interest in its first weekend at the box office. The film, which stars Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, tells the story of Charlie and Emma, a couple whose wedding plans are thrown into serious doubt after dark secrets emerge.
Most of the conversations surrounding The Drama center on the twist at the heart of the story, but plenty of attention has also gone to the film’s soundtrack, which features a number of recognizable tracks from acclaimed artists along with original music from composer Daniel Pemberton.

When Every Song On The Drama Soundtrack Plays In The Movie
Mackeeper – “Pieces Of Yours”: Mackeeper’s “Pieces Of Yours” is a single released on the album In Real Life Music in 2025. An indie-folk-esque song, Pieces of Yours is written and produced by Miles Cohen and Nick Harwood, who incorporate a number of unique elements from various musical genres to create a one of a kind tune.
Some songs in the film are played as needle drops, whereas others linger in the background, furthering The Drama’s tension-filled atmosphere. While this song doesn’t hold the same sort of significance in the film as some of the others on this list, it plays as audiences are first getting to know both Emma and Charlie, thus setting the mood for the rest of the film.
Sally Oldfield – “Blue Water”: Sally Oldfield’s Blue Water is one of the oldest songs on The Drama’s tracklist. It stems from the artist’s solo album Water Bearer, which was released in 1979 under Bronze Records. Blue Water is another folk-esque song in the new film, combining Oldfield’s powerful voice with sounds of piano, drums, guitar, and more.
Blue Water has appeared in other films and shows, but The Drama is its most recent, and arguably biggest, inclusion. This song again helps establish the tone of Charlie and Emma’s love story, helping to shape the perfect romantic atmosphere before things come crashing down around them.
White Light – “I Want You To Know Me”: I Want You To Know Me by White Light is a retro song which released in the 1980s but acts as a callback to moody rock/psych tracks of the decade prior. It’s a song with guitar riffs and yearning lyrics/vocals, and is used to show tension between the two lead characters.
In The Drama, Charlie and Emma begin to see the cracks in their relationship after a dark secret is revealed in a pre-wedding gathering with their close friends. The duo then begin to drift apart, and this song acts as a way to further convey this rift.
Todd Terje – “Leisure Suit Preben”: Norwegian musician Todd Terje also has a track featured in The Drama. His song Leisure Suit Preben, a disco-like electronic piece from his 2014 album It’s Album Time, plays in the new film and encapsulates the artist’s unique voice that he’s strengthened throughout his career.
Leisure Suit Preben is one of the needle drops in the film, and each time this occurs, it signals a further shift in the dynamic between Charlie and Emma. Here, this song plays alongside Charlie’s growing concerns about his soon-to-be wife’s recent revelations, with Robert Pattinson’s character grappling with the shock and horror of what Emma shared.
John Carroll Kirby – “Wind”: Work by John Carroll Kirby, a composer and pianist, is also featured in The Drama. Kirby’s song “Wind,” a minimal and atmospheric mix of sounds that features elements of jazz and soul, plays not in a key moment of The Drama, but again goes a long way to further cement the atmosphere of the film.
Wind hasn’t been featured in another major film or television title before this, but audiences will instantly recognize the kind of track it is, along with some of Kirby’s other work. Wind plays in the background as the plot progresses, and as Charlie and Emma grow further apart due to the controversial premise, the gentle flow of sounds lining the proceedings with a sense of both calm and impending doom.
Jordan Raf, Ben Leach, Zach Galsky – “Sky Turns Red”: Jordan Raf, Ben Leach, and Zach Galsky’s “Sky Turns Red” is one of the standout tracks in The Drama. The simultaneous intensity and sensitivity of the trio’s music perfectly sums up the rising fracture in the lead characters’ relationships, going a long way in conveying to audiences that Charlie and Emma’s love story is truly on the line.

Shira Small – “I Want To Lay With You”: Shira Small’sI Want To Lay With Youalso plays inThe Drama. Again, this is an indie song, and one that matches perfectly with the story and atmosphere ofThe Drama. It’s a track that comes to life in the new film, again laying the groundwork for the atmosphere as Charlie ponders what to do about his wedding, which gets closer and closer by the second.
Katie Fash – “Again”: Again by Katie Fash is a flashy, indie pop song played by DJ Pauline in the film during rehearsals for the wedding. Pauline is someone who Charlie and Emma both have problems with, but Charlie compliments her on her musical abilities before succumbing to tears in what is a humorous and heartbreaking moment.
Sibylle Baier – “Forget About”: Sibylle Baier’s Forget About is a haunting, tragic folk song that encapsulates much of the mood of The Drama. The film is at times exciting and funny, and at other times is heartbreaking. This song plays towards the end of the film, where everything that’s happened between Charlie and Emma, from violence to infidelity, comes to a head emotionally.
Jesse Rae – “Inside Out”: Scottish singer-songwriter Jesse Rae’sInside Outisa soulful, romantic track, and one with a purposeful rhythm that conveys warmth that perfectly offsets all the tension and drama.Viewers will recognize this as the song that Emma plays on purpose in order to wind Charlie up, and he plays it after getting home from their disastrous wedding.
Judee Sill – “The Lamb Ran Away With The Crown (Remastered)”: Judee Sill’s The Lamb Ran Away With The Crown is another older song on this list, originally released in 1971 through Asylum Records. Since then, it’s gained new popularity through semi-frequent appearances in various film and television titles, and has often been remastered and remixed as part of these appearances in more recent stories.
Skinny Pimp ft. Lady B – “Boom Dat Shit”: One of the most distinct tracks on this list is is “Boom Dat Shit” from rapper Skinny Pimp and Lady B. The uniqueness of this song’s placement in the film comes from its contrast with the many indie/folk sounds heard throughout The Drama, and its inclusion helps to vary what audiences are hearing as to not make the experience overly predictable.
Nolan Strong & The Diablos – “The Wind”: Detroit R&B group Nolan Strong & The Diablos released The Wind in 1954, which has gone on to become a doo-wop classic. Praised for its silky smooth vocals and meaningful lyrics, it’s a song that can occasionally be heard in films, often acting as a touch of nostalgia to the story.
Alicia Keys – “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart”: Arguably the most famous artist on this list, Alicia Keys’ work appears in The Drama in the form of her 2009 track Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart. This song can be heard as Charlie and Emma are getting their rehearsal wedding photos taken.
Smerz – “You Got Time And I Got Money”: More Norwegian music is featured in The Drama. This time it’s from the duo Smerz, titled You Got Time And I Got Money. It’s a song that incorporates elements of electronic beats along with smooth vocals, and matches with the story of The Drama well.
Juliette Greco – “Sans Vous Aimer”: Another song from the 1950s that can be heard in The Drama is Juliette Gréco’sSans Vous Aimer. This track is a slower, more intimate listen, pairing well with the quieter moments ofThe Drama. This song plays in the quieter love story moments between Charlie and Emma.
Skinny Pimp – “Skinny Shouts”: Skinny Pimp’s music is featured again in the new film. His song Skinny Shouts represents a similar contrast to the folk and indie sounds that dominate the film’s music, and represents the rising tension that the audience feels as Charlie and Emma’s conflict hits a climax.
Moondog – “Do Your Thing”: Moondog’s Do Your Thing is a track that thrives in its purposeful and direct rhythm. It includes a mix of piano and soothing vocals, which makes it immediately stand out to the viewer when it comes on screen.
It plays as The Drama is winding down, with Charlie and Emma reconciling in the diner together. It then overlays the credits sequence, making it the final song of the film.
