Manchester United have identified Benfica left-back Samuel Dahl as a potential understudy to Luke Shaw for the 2026/27 campaign, as per Record.

The Red Devils are actively searching for a new left-back, considering Patrick Dorgu has been defensively vulnerable. He has looked more comfortable as a wide attacking player for the Mancunian giants.

United were linked with Lewis Hall earlier this month, but Newcastle United are quite clear that the Englishman won’t be heading out this summer.

The club are likewise looking at other alternatives including Dahl. The Swede has been monitored closely on 10 occasions by United this campaign.

Dahl has been a key player for Benfica under manager Jose Mourinho, and he could pursue a bigger challenge away from the Primeira Liga.

United are keeping a close eye on his progress and could be tempted to make a formal approach for the 23-year-old when the season ends.

Aside from a left-back, the Red Devils are set to sign a new defensive midfielder and a central defender in the next transfer window.
