James Bond Sequel Gets Title, Plot & Release Date Ahead Of Amazon’s Denis Villeneuve Reboot

His name is Bond, James Bond.

Spy thrillers are seeing a new age in Hollywood, with the genre doing quite well on the small screen. In recent years, spy thriller series like Apple TV’s Slow Horses, Prime Video’s Citadel, Paramount+’s The Agency, Netflix’s Black Doves, and more have become global streaming sensations. However, when it comes to the espionage genre, there is a certain spy who reigns supreme.

Prime Video’s recently released comedy series, Bait, plays with the concept of James Bond on the small screen. However, the spy really shines in theaters, with several James Bond movies becoming box office hits through the years. While the audience patiently awaits casting news for the next James Bond, as Daniel Craig is out of the role, the franchise keeps moving forward in different ways.

One of those ways is through the upcoming release of a James Bond novel, which has had official details revealed. The book is titled King Zero: The New James Bond Novel, written by Charlie Higson, the author of the hit Young Bond series, which follows the famous spy as a teenager. The James Bond book will be released on September 24, 2026.

Story details make King Zero: The New James Bond Novel sound quite exciting. According to the book’s official synopsis, Bond embarks on a globe-trotting adventure to piece together the clues to a massive secret that was important enough for a traitor to kill an agent in the Saudi desert. The book’s villain, King Zero, is described as “a villain unlike any before.”

James Bond’s next appearance will be released well before the spy comes back for a new mission on the big screen. After Daniel Craig retired from the 007 role, Amazon MGM Studios got the rights to the James Bond franchise, selecting Dune director Denis Villeneuve to helm the next step in one of the most iconic movie franchises of all time.

At the time of writing, Villeneuve’s Bond movie still has to reveal its release date, title, story, and cast. As such, the upcoming reboot has become the perfect target for the rumor mill. Several actors have been rumored to be top candidates to play the next James Bond. The list ranges from Callum Turner to Aaron Taylor-Johnson to Jacob Elordi and many more.

While waiting for James Bond’s next movie, fans of the spy thriller franchise now have two 2026 releases to look forward to. First, there is King Zero: The New James Bond Novel, which comes from an author with deep ties to the Bond franchise. Then, there will be Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three, which will showcase the director’s skills for a massive movie like James Bond 26.
