Disney+’s Upcoming Sci-Fi Show Can Finally Pay Off The Superhero Team Marvel Teased 5 Years Ago

An upcoming sci-fi series on Disney+ can finally pay off the teases at a new MCU superteam that began five years ago. The upcoming movies of the MCU have never been bigger, with 2026 alone featuring two massive hitters. July of that year will see Spider-Man: Brand New Day hit theaters, before the story of Avengers: Doomsday releases worldwide in December.

Avengers: Secret Wars will then release a year after the latter, potentially rebooting the MCU in a big way. All of this just proves how big the next two years are for the Marvel timeline, as the Multiverse Saga is left behind. Despite these huge movies and their wider franchise implications, though, some MCU Disney+ shows still need to be released.

One such show is expected in the latter half of 2026, and can finally pay off the setup of a new MCU superhero team that began five years ago: the Young Avengers.

Vision Quest Will Reintroduce A Major Young Avenger

That show is Vision Quest, the second unofficial sequel to WandaVision. The show will focus on White Vision after the events of the latter’s finale as he looks to reconnect with his humanity. One way in which Vision will do so is by meeting up with his son, Tommy Maximoff, played by Ruaridh Mollica.

As Agatha All Along explored using Billy Maximoff, the destruction of Wanda’s Hex saw the souls of her twins find new hosts. Billy’s soul entered the previously deceased body of William Kaplan, with the finale of that show teasing Tommy’s did the same. Vision Quest will confirm as much, reintroducing Tommy Shepherd, aka Speed,

With Speed being part of Vision Quest, a major potential member for the MCU’s Young Avengers team will be officially introduced to the franchise.

The Young Avengers Have Been Teased Several Times In The MCU

A Young Avengers project has been one of the more frustrating elements of the MCU in recent years, primarily due to how much it has been teased without coming to fruition. These teases began in 2021’s WandaVision with the introduction of Wanda’s twins and their powers. Other Disney+ shows then built on this, introducing even more possible members for the team.

Whether it was Eli Bradley in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, a young variant of Loki in Loki, the son of Hulk, Skaar, appearing in She-Hulk, or movie characters like America Chavez and Kamala Khan getting a big focus, the MCU’s Young Avengers teases were aplenty. Admittedly, though, these teases were exactly that: subtle references to future potential members.

The only concrete setup for an MCU Young Avengers project came in the final moments of The Marvels, in which Kamala Khan told Kate Bishop that she is putting together a team of her own. Since then, though, nothing has been introduced in the MCU to capitalize on the scene.

Vision Quest Finalizing The Young Avengers Is Thematically Resonant

That said, Vision Quest could change this. The show is expected to focus inherently on Tommy Shepherd, after Agatha All Along ended with Billy setting out to search for his brother. If the two reunite in Vision Quest, the Young Avengers are one step closer to forming in the MCU.

If this is the case and Vision Quest does finalize the Young Avengers, it would be a thematically meaningful conclusion to the years of teases. After all, WandaVision was the first MCU project to tease Young Avengers characters via Tommy and Billy. With Vision Quest set to conclude the story that began in WandaVision, it would be cool for the former to officially build the team first teased in the latter.

This would also pay off the aforementioned teases featured in Agatha All Along. The first installment in this “trilogy” introduced the characters, the second set them up to get back together, and the conclusion could feature that reunion. In doing so, Billy and Tommy could go on to join the Young Avengers, finally capitalizing on years of setup
