Manchester United have contacted the agent of Arsenal target Sandro Tonali ahead of the summer, according to reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Red Devils are aiming to land a new defensive midfielder with Casemiro set to walk away on a free transfer when his contract expires on June 30.
Newcastle United star Tonali has been linked with Arsenal for the last few months, and United have now joined the pursuit and have made direct contact with his camp.
The Red Devils have yet to initiate talks with the Magpies for the 25-year-old and they are negotiating personal terms for the midfielder for now.
The Italian is expected to remain respectful to the Magpies and won’t make a transfer request to the hierarchy until the end of the current season.
Newcastle are aware of the transfer interest in the former AC Milan and they are likely to demand in upwards of 100 million pounds for him.
United seem in pole position to land his services at the moment.
