The Dark Souls franchise has continued to capture hearts and minds since the first installment was released way back in 2011. Welcoming two further installments, and going on to inspire both Bloodborne and Elden Ring, it is safe to say that nobody quite has a run like FromSoftware when it comes to the RPG genre.
Praised for its worldbuilding, unique characters, punishing combat, and alluring settings, the Dark Souls franchise is just as loved 15-years on, and this upcoming release is guaranteed to appeal to the most dedicated of fans.
Dark Souls: Mother Of Mourning Continues In May
Dark Souls: Mother of Mourning does not just have the coolest-sounding name ever, but it is also available this May as yet another installment in the Dark Souls graphic novel series (via Titan Comics). Written by George Mann with art from Maan House, Dark Souls: Mother of Mourning is the fourth and final entry in the collection, and its synopsis reads as follows:
HOPE IS A FLEETING FEELING FOR THE KNIGHTS OF MOURNING. BUT THE KNIGHTLY ORDER ARE WILLING TO BET EVERYTHING ON THEIR LAST CHANCE OF SALVATION.
In search of a hero to rekindle the flame, these knights turn to the Mother of Lilies, a soulless mummified saint with legends about her ability to restore balance to the world. The knights believe that her lost soul will resurrect her and bring them their sought-after champion to guide them to solace. But madness looms in every knight’s mind and this long-awaited goal might not be what it once seemed…
It was back in March that fans welcomed the third installment, Mother of Mourning #3, and it was met with critical acclaim, so there is no denying that fans will be interested to see how the story of the Knights of Mourning will culminate this spring.
Dark Souls Fans Shouldn’t Miss This One
Originally scheduled to release on 8 April, Mother of Mourning #4 was recently delayed until 20 May, but with each graphic novel coming in at around 30 pages, this will give you enough time to get caught up on the series if you have previously missed it. Additionally, with the series being a FromSoftware and Bandai Namco-licensed series, you know that the content will be canon to the Dark Souls universe, so you are quite literally receiving a DLC in written form.
Costing around $5USD, the Dark Souls: Mother of Mourning series will make for the perfect addition to your souls collection, and luckily, you do not have long left to find out how it all ends.
