3 players who can replace Sam Curran in CSK’s playing XI for the remaining IPL 2025 matches

After a disappointing season for the five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK), one of their most trusted all-rounders, Sam Curran, is set to miss the remaining two matches due to international commitments. His absence has created a significant void in the team. Curran is a left-arm pace all-rounder who can also contribute heavily with the bat thanks to his excellent timing. Moreover, with the inclusion of Urvil Patel, CSK has now the luxury to go for a full-time bowler. With limited options, CSK will be looking at their young talents to contribute, eyeing for the next season.

Here are the top 3 options CSK can go through:

3. Ramakrishna Ghosh

Third on the list is Ramakrishna Ghosh, a 27-year-old all-rounder from Maharashtra, who was acquired by CSK for INR 30 lakhs during the IPL 2025 auction. Known for his aggressive batting and handy medium-fast bowling, Ghosh has the potential to provide the necessary replacement for Curran. However, he hasn’t got any chance so far in the cash-rich league, but with CSK already out of the tournament, this inclusion might turn out fruitful for the side.

2. Mukesh Choudhary

Mukesh Choudhary, the left-arm pacer from Rajasthan, was an important performer for CSK in the 2022 season, picking up 16 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 26.50. The 28-year-old brings raw pace and the ability to swing the ball upfront, making him a potent weapon in the powerplay. With bowling style and abilities are quite similar to Curran, he can be a good fit in the team for next two matches.

On top of the list is Nathan Ellis, the Australian fast bowler, could be a strong option to fill the void left by Curran. Known for his smart variations and composed death bowling, Ellis brings reliability to any T20 side. His experience in high-pressure situations and ability to adapt quickly can strengthen CSK’s bowling unit. With Curran unavailable, he offers a balanced overseas option who can contribute effectively across different phases of the game.
