Cocaine Quarterback

Cocaine Quarterback is one of those wild docuseries that you have to see to believe. Fully titled Cocaine Quarterback: Signal-Caller for the Cartel, the 3-part series follows the FBI’s capture of a former college football player who turned into a drug kingpin.

This is the story of Owen Hanson, who played football for the University of Southern California and was part of their team that won two NCAA national championships in 2003 and 2004 under head coach Pete Carroll. Although Hanson never emerged as a big star on the gridiron, he became famous for other reasons around campus.

The docuseries chronicles Hanson’s downfall into a world of illicit trades, first with steroids, then sports betting, and finally cocaine. Hanson’s notoriety led him to be picked up by the Mexican cartel, which ended up placing him in federal prison.

If you’ve never heard of Owen Hanson, it’s likely because his football career became secondary to his shady business operations. Hanson was released from prison in March 2024, serving only seven years of his 21-year sentence, and now runs a protein ice cream business.

If you’re a fan of these types of stranger-than-fiction true crime stories, then Cocaine Quarterback is a perfect choice to binge-watch on Prime Video this weekend. The series only consists of three episodes, making it possible to complete in just one sitting.

Hotel Costiera

Hotel Costiera is a brand-new action comedy series that was released on Prime Video on September 24, 2025. The series stars Jesse Williams, best known for his iconic role as Dr. Jackson Avery in Grey’s Anatomy, as an ex-Marine-turned-fixer named Daniel De Luca living at a luxurious hotel on the Amalfi Coast in Italy.

The series follows Daniel and a group of Italian locals, as well as one British aristocrat, who solve problems and crack criminal scenarios, mostly having to do with retrieving lost or stolen items (and in some cases, pets). There’s a new main case in each of the six episodes, although Daniel’s biggest challenge is finding the missing daughter of the luxurious hotel owner.

Hotel Costiera is gorgeous to look at, from the scenery to the actors, but it is light on the story. It is charming and occasionally funny, but it doesn’t offer the most complex or intriguing story to dive into. For some viewers who are looking for something easy and breezy to watch after a long week, Hotel Costeria could be perfectly simple and light enough to do the trick.

Screen Rant’s “Binge or Skip” recommendation of Hotel Costeria noted, “You could say that Hotel Costiera is a very watered-down version of modern mysteries set in tropical/luxurious settings like Rian Johnson’s Knives Out movies and HBO’s The White Lotus.”

Hotel Costiera is not necessarily must-see television and can even veer into soapy territory, which is great if that’s what you’re after. Williams is cool, stylish, and entertaining in his own Reacher element. It undoubtedly has some of the best natural scenery of any new series this month, making it perfect for an escapist binge-watch this weekend.

The Terminal List: Dark Wolf

For the first time ever, Prime Video subscribers can now binge-watch all seven episodes of The Terminal List: Dark Wolf. Its season 1 finale just released on September 24, 2025, making this weekend the perfect opportunity to stream the series in full.

The Terminal List: Dark Wolf is a prequel to the hit 2022 series The Terminal List, based on the novel by Jack Carr. You’ll have to watch that series before diving into Dark Wolf to get the most out of your viewing experience.

The Terminal List was a dark psychological action thriller fueled by a gripping revenge story, while Dark Wolf is more of a globe-trotting spy action drama, with similarities to the celebrated Mission: Impossible franchise. Although Dark Wolf takes place roughly five years before The Terminal List, it’s best to watch the original series first.

Chris Pratt was the star of The Terminal List as Navy SEAL Commander James Reece. Pratt returns in Dark Wolf but on a lesser scale, as the focus shifts to Ben Edwards, his squadmate in Alpha Platoon. Ben, played by Taylor Kitsch, is dishonorably discharged from the SEALs and gets an opportunity to join the CIA.

If you’re looking for a full-throttle, high-stakes spy action drama this weekend, you won’t be able to find a better one on Prime Video than The Terminal List: Dark Wolf.
