2025’s Next Blockbuster Hit Is A Free Day-One Game On Xbox Game Pass

Xbox Game Pass was a bit of an unreliable service until recently, when it absolutely ballooned in quality. Since the likes of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and even first-party titles like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle have graced the platform, Game Pass has finally felt worth it again. Of course, it can be easy to feel like that streak will run out any minute now, especially with the fickle nature of video games and their overall quality.

Fortunately, it looks like, at least for a short while longer, Xbox Game Pass is going to continue to be worth it as it is getting one of the most anticipated games of 2025. In fact, this game has so much hype behind it that it could easily become 2025’s biggest blockbuster hit and replicate the success of 2024’s greatest games. Game Pass subscribers are going to want to mark this game’s release on their calendar as it is coming for free on day-one.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Is A Day-One Game Pass Release On July 24

It Could Be The Service’s Biggest Game This Year

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers looks set to be 2025’s big-ticket item. It ticks all the right boxes, being both a soulslike and an RPG, while also attempting to replicate Black Myth: Wukong’s success. It is set in the dark and tumultuous land of Shu, a world steeped in the rich and captivating mythology of Ancient China, and also takes heavy inspiration from Wuxia fiction and martial arts combat. Furthermore, Wuchang utilizes Unreal Engine 5, giving it the same glossy, detailed sheen that made Black Myth: Wukong one of the best-looking games of 2024.

You can enjoy it on day-one when it launches on Thursday, July 24, 2025.

If any of that – or the fact that you play as a pirate warrior with a penchant for fighting horrifying demons – is of interest to you, and you happen to be subscribed to Xbox Game Pass, then you can enjoy it on day-one when it launches on Thursday, July 24, 2025. Soulslike fans won’t have to wait long at all to start playing what will undoubtedly be one of the best Game Pass games of the year. If previous successes are anything to go by, Wuchang will undeniably be one to look out for, even for those who dislike soulslikes.

RPGs & Souls Games Have Been Proven Blockbuster Hits

The Likes Of Black Myth: Wukong & Clair Obscur Have Been Incredibly Successful

So far, some of 2025’s biggest games have been RPGs. Of course, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has absolutely dominated the conversation when it comes to this year’s GOTY, but we’ve also had other fantastic games in the genre, such as Metaphor: ReFantazio. 2024 was largely dominated by soulslike titles, with Black Myth: Wukong and Shadow of the Erdtree both getting GOTY nominations. Considering Wuchang is combining both with a heavy Wuxia influence, it feels like it is on track to be a huge hit this year.

One Of 2024’s Best Games May Be Headed To Game Pass, & I Couldn’t Be More Excited

Game Pass could soon be getting one of 2024’s best games. Like many fans, I’m excited for what this means, and to hopefully play this game soon.

Of course, that remains to be seen, especially as it is reportedly incredibly challenging. However, thanks to the increased prevalence of soulslikes, its fanbase and even newcomers should be better accustomed to its style of combat. I’m pretty sure we’ll be seeing Wuchang: Fallen Feathers at the Game Awards in some capacity, likely as a GOTY contender, and luckily, we’ll all be able to vote confidently on whether it should win, as we’ll have played it completely for free via Xbox Game Pass.
