Pokémon Legends: Z-A has added over 130 new Pokémon to its Mega Dimension DLC, giving players great options for strong teams across any mode. Although not every new Pokémon will be on every team, there’s something for everyone who needs better flexibility for type match-ups on their squad. Alongside some creatures with never-before-seen Mega forms, the Pokémon in the DLC are amazing potential allies.

19 new Mega Evolutions in Legends: Z-A were added to the Mega Dimension DLC, vastly increasing the power of several existing and newly included Pokémon. While those Mega forms are not on this list, they’re worth considering when you want to catch some of the new DLC Pokémon. Pokémon from across all Generations have been made available, though many are only accessible during the postgame of the main story.

Crabominable

Ice/Fighting-Type With A New Form

Crabominable isn’t the first Pokémon that may come to people’s minds for Mega Dimension, but this Ice/Fighting-type has received a lot of love in the DLC. Many new Pokémon in the expanded content are only found in Hyperspace Lumiose, an alternate version of the city that Hoopa can take you too once you finish Legends: Z-A‘s story. Crabominable’s starting form, Crabrawler, is relatively easy to find, giving you a great Pokémon to start your DLC adventure.

Furthermore, Crabominable has a new Mega Evolution you can get naturally by progressing the DLC’s story, where you have to fight Rouge Mega Crabominable. This gives you an easy Mega Evolution to use in battle, with the rare physical attacking power of Crabominable boosted to greater heights.

Sirfetch’d

Quick Fighting-Type That Is Easy To Find

Another great addition to Mega Dimension‘s Hyperspace Zones is Farfetch’d, a Pokémon that’s easy to spot in any grassy area within the alternate portal areas. Sirfetch’d is a pure Fighting-type that can handle many DLC threats, featuring some raw physical power that’s hard for other Pokémon to top.

Sirfetch’d’s knightly design makes it a stand-out on any team too, with a striking presence that was once only accessible in the Galar region. The inclusion of this rare evolutionary form is incredibly compelling for Legends: Z-A‘s roster of Pokémon, encouraging players to grab creatures they wouldn’t be able to find in many other games from the series.

Armarouge/Ceruledge

Twin Armored Fire-Types With Amazing Deviations

Two of the most popular Pokémon from the Paldea region, Armarouge and Ceruledge, are part of the Legends: Z-A DLC, giving players some of the strongest Pokémon from Scarlet and Violet. These Pokémon remain tough in the spin-off, using their unique traits to establish themselves as potent creatures in any battle trainers use them for.

It’s almost impossible to talk about one of these Pokémon without mentioning the other. Armarouge is a Fire/Psychic-type whose defensive skills give them a ton of utility against a variety of Pokémon. Meanwhile, Ceruledge’s Ghost/Fire-type qualities give them devastating attacking power, suitable for trainers with aggressive teams. Both Pokémon are fantastic finds in Mega Dimension, as long as you’re able to evolve Charcadet into either form.

Baxcalibur

Godzilla-Like Dragon/Ice-Type For Competitive Players

Baxcalibur is another Pokémon with a new Mega Evolution in Legends: Z-A, bolstering the strength of an already powerful Pseudo-Legendary. Evolved from Frigibax found in Mega Dimension‘s rift zones, Baxcalibur’s Mega Evolution is among the strongest in the game, bringing the creature’s base stat total to a whopping 700. With nearly a 100+ in all categories but Speed, Mega Baxcalibur is almost a must-have in the DLC.

For anyone looking for a strong DLC Pokémon to take into the Battle Club, Baxcalibur is an excellent choice. Despite the fact that Baxcalibur’s Mega Stone is only obtained by getting promoted in online ranked matches, this Pokémon is still incredibly useful for a variety of teams. The rare combination of Ice and Dragon makes Baxcalibur a great choice to use against other Dragon-types, who are notoriously hard to take down.

Staraptor

Reliable Normal/Flying-Type With Diverse Moves

An old favorite for many fans of the Sinnoh region, Staraptor makes its return in Legends: Z-A‘s DLC, evovled from Starly as many players have done before. However, Staraptor has a Mega Evolution that elevates it further, making it even more reliable of a Pokémon for nearly any team. This Normal/Flying-type has been a staple in almost every game it’s featured in, and the Mega Dimension expansion has hardly changed that.

While other Normal/Flying-types like Pidgeot are also useful, Staraptor has always had a wider variety of moves it could use with extra strength. It has the ability to learn Close Combat, an extraordinarily strong Fighting-type move almost no Flying-types ever have. This lets it overcome some of its vulnerabilities, giving it the adaptability to succeed in numerous battle situations.

Swampert/Sceptile/Blaziken

Hoenn Starter Evolutions Make Their Return

It was somewhat strange to have so many starters in Legends: Z-A, but to not include some of the most popular ones from the Hoenn region. Swampert, Sceptile, and Blaziken return with Mudkip, Treeko, and Torchic’s inclusion in the DLC, with the base forms located in rare dimensional zones you’ll have to bake Hoopa special donuts to reach.

Each of these Pokémon is powerful in their own right, with all of them having a unique Mega Evolution you can access within the DLC. Sceptile’s powerful Dragon/Grass-type combination may be tempting, but having Swampert’s Water/Ground-type or Blaziken’s Fire/Fighting-type attributes raised can also help any aspiring team become much stronger.

Golisopod

Golisopod is already a strong enough Pokémon on its own, worthy of being added to many a player’s team once discovered or evolved from Wimpod in the DLC. Yet, Golisopod has a Mega Evolution that rivals even some Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon, giving it even better traits for ambitious trainers. Golisopod’s already massive Attack and Defense stats skyrocket, alongside its robust Special Defense.

This creates an extremely bulky Pokémon that’s hard for other trainers to take down, whether you choose to Mega Evolve it or not. Despite its lack of Speed, Golisopod is among the best Pokémon in Legends: Z-A for dealing with common powerhouses, especially potent Fire, Ground, Ghost, Dark, or Rock-types in Legends: Z-A who could tear through the rest of your team.

Annihilape

Unique Fighting/Ghost-Type Evolution That Dominates Battles

As you try to rack your brain for Legends: Z-A team comps in the Mega Dimension DLC, Annihilape is one Pokémon that you might consider again and again. This unexpected evolution of Primeape was once only seen in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, but now makes its return in this spin-off. This Pokémon has a lot of balanced, controlled power, while also being a unique Pokémon some trainers may have never tried using before.

While not the most defensive Pokémon, Annihilape makes the most of its high HP and Attack to fill an important niche in many battles. This Pokémon is great against Normal-types, especially bulkier ones that your team may have a hard time taking down. Since Normal-type moves don’t affect Annihilape, its Fighting-type attacks can make short work against even the most stalwart opponents you face throughout the DLC.

Rayquaza

Return Of the Dragon/Flying-Type King

Rayquaza, alongside Groudon and Kyogre, return as Legendary Pokémon in Legends: Z-A for players to obtain as they progress through the extra content. This Pokémon has long had the strongest Mega Evolution of all time, and that hasn’t changed now. By following the right path, players can once again get their hands on Mega Rayquaza, and all the OP stats it has offered in every game it’s been in.

While Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon also provide accessible strength, Mega Rayquaza’s might be hard to compare to any other Pokémon. Even Legends: Z-A‘s strong Mega Zygarde only compares to this Pokémon rather than surpass its sheer strength. While extremely fast and possessing ridiculous attacking power, only one other creature might be a better find for players within the DLC.

Darkrai

Hidden Story Dark-Type With An Insane Evolution

A potent boss fight in Mega Dimension‘s story is against Darkrai, the Dark-type Pokémon who gives people nightmares with sinister powers. This Pokémon has always been elusive in many mainline Pokémon games, but now it takes the forefront of players’ attention as something they can catch. This Pokémon’s Speed and Special Attack are menacing, yet it’s the Pokémon’s special moves that induce Sleep easily that make it almost singular in how it approaches battles.

What makes Darkrai special in Legends: Z-A, however, is that it is another Legendary that gains a Mega Evolution. This Mega Evolution is absurdly strong, with a 700 base stat total defined by 120+ scores in Attack, Defense, Special Attack, and Special Defense. Appearing as a massive, all-seeing eye, this is one of the coolest new Mega forms you can acquire for your team.

Darkrai’s strength and “final boss” status in the DLC puts it on a pedestal above the other Pokémon added to the game. That being said, everyone has their favorite Pokémon, and many beloved ones have returned to Pokémon Legends: Z-A‘s Mega Dimension DLC, so the best ones are those that you’ve longed to see in the spin-off the most.
